Fall Food Drive Update – Choices

By |2019-11-08T08:46:59-08:00November 8th, 2019|Fall Food Drive, Newsletter|

CHOICES I am so very glad that Ross and I chose to purchase a home here in beautiful Craig Bay. We enjoy the nature that surrounds us, the friendship we share with our neighbours and the many events that bring us together.  The kind of life we lead is all about the choices we have made along the way. Choices about one’s education, job, partners, moving/not moving, travelling/not travelling to the simple choices [...]

Let’s talk Turkey about the Food Drive

By |2019-10-09T10:46:32-07:00October 9th, 2019|Fall Food Drive, Newsletter|

Let’s talk turkey about the Food Drive  “I’m so hungry I could eat a horse!” “What’s for dinner? I’m starving!” These common expressions are, of course, said tongue-in-cheek. Few of us know what it’s like to go hungry for a sustained period, let alone to starve. And most of us rarely miss a meal, unless we’re trying to lose a few pounds due to all the good food we’ve already enjoyed. [...]

Fall Food Drive – Why The Salvation Army?

By |2019-10-04T09:52:18-07:00October 4th, 2019|Fall Food Drive, Newsletter|

Fall Food Drive: Why The Salvation Army? There are many non-profit organizations that are there to help in times of calamitous events whether they be world wide or close to home. The Red Cross immediately comes to mind. People often do not know that The Salvation Army will be there too. This is an international charitable organization and reports a worldwide membership of over 1.7 million. Their mission is to preach [...]

Craig Bay comes through in a big way every fall

By |2019-09-27T09:59:36-07:00September 27th, 2019|Fall Food Drive, Newsletter|

“Remember that the happiest people are not those who are getting more, but giving more.” This quote by H. Jackson Brown Jr sums up the feelings of the generous residents of our little Village by the Sea – Craig Bay. We have been coming through in a big way every fall to help our local Salvation Army help those who need a helping hand, those who have fallen on hard time or those [...]

Another week closer to the culmination of our Annual Food Drive to support The Salvation Army!  This fall drive was started by the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department 21 years ago. It started small with the volunteers going door to door looking for donations of food and cash. The drive has grown each year, with volunteers from Dashwood, Qualicum, Parksville and Nanoose - all heading out on the 3rd weekend [...]
