“Remember that the happiest people are not those who are getting more, but giving more.”

This quote by H. Jackson Brown Jr sums up the feelings of the generous residents of our little Village by the Sea – Craig Bay. We have been coming through in a big way every fall to help our local Salvation Army help those who need a helping hand, those who have fallen on hard time or those who have “fallen through the cracks” in society. Everyone has a story and while we cannot hear them all, we can help those who want help.

Every dollar that we bring to The Salvation Army is used to help those in our community – it funds the Food Bank, The Soup Kitchen, The Salvation Army Thrift Store and The Salvation Army furniture store. Then there are the funds that help individuals in a desperate time of need – losing a home to fire or flood with no insurance, getting away from a bad situation or offering that hand up to someone who is looking for “someone who cares”.

Our volunteer garage is almost ready to stockpile food donations, so please keep bringing your donations to office. The food drive donation boxes and display will be set up in the Beach Club foyer today – thanks to all who have contributed so far!

Allison will be happy to collect your cash donation, and remember – tax receipts will be mailed out to those who donate over $10.

I am away in sunny Europe, but I hear the rain has been making an almost daily presence – so SNOWBIRDS OR RAINBIRDS – if you are escaping early – please leave your donation with Allison.

The presentation of food donations and cash will be presented to The Salvation Army and The Parksville Volunteer Fire Department on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17 AT 9:30 AM (you can follow the countdown clock and progress thermometer on the Fall Food Drive page!)
