Another week closer to the culmination of our Annual Food Drive to support The Salvation Army!

This fall drive was started by the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department 21 years ago. It started small with the volunteers going door to door looking for donations of food and cash. The drive has grown each year, with volunteers from Dashwood, Qualicum, Parksville and Nanoose – all heading out on the 3rd weekend in November – every year the need has increased and these donations go a long way in supporting those in the Oceanside community who need that extra help.

The Salvation Army uses the donations to fund The Food Bank, The Soup Kitchen, the two Thrift Stores and The Furniture store. The Salvation Army also helps with ID replacement and can provide pro bono legal help. The donations we provide stay in our community.

Over the next few weeks, look for more information about how your donation helps our community.

Snowbirds – if you are leaving early, Allison would be happy to collect a food or cash donation before you leave.

All donations over $10 will receive a tax receipt.

Many thanks to those who have helped out already!
