Several years ago a widow in our community decided she needed companionship, support and encouragement. To that end, the Craig Bay Singles group was created and Bernice Hathaway deserves an incredible amount of thanks for her courage in stepping out to gift all in Craig Bay who find themselves in the same position as herself the opportunity for social interaction with others who have gone through similar circumstances.

Today there are around 35 people registered with the group and there is always room for others who would like to connect and be supported and encouraged and understood by those already in the group. We have all gone through similar experiences and being part of this group tells us that we are not alone.

Today the group has regular monthly gatherings on the third Sunday of each month, with two or more of the group members taking responsibility for the day’s event.

Apart from the monthly gatherings we regularly announce via e-mail any other happenings which might be of interest to the group member,s such as current movies, theatre, ETA tours and lately some of our ladies have come together to plan holidays together.
