WHAT IS ART WALL?

The installation of the Acoustic Baffles in February 2020 necessitated the removal of the one and only painting in the Conservatory. Rather than purchasing several smaller pieces of art to hang in the Conservatory, a proposal was put forward by Heidi Bunting, a member of the 2018-2019 BCsC, to create an ART WALL whereby artwork of Craig Bay artists could be displayed on a rotating basis.

A working group of 3 was formed to oversee the purchase of professional level art hanging apparatus that would provide the most flexibility and security in displaying the art. This was followed by an Artists’ Call to interested Craig Bay artists, regardless of experience, to submit their art work for consideration. 15 Craig Bay artists submitted a total of 40 pieces from which to choose. The current hanging space will support up to 12 pieces of art depending on the dimensions of the art framed or not.

The Concept and Goal of ART WALL is to add colour, texture and dimension to the walls of the Beach Club Conservatory. There is an amazing pool of artists in Craig Bay, from painters, to photographers and other forms, whose work can be used to fulfill the objective of ART WALL.

This rotating exhibit showcases a new selection of artwork Submitted by resident artists every 2 – 3 months. A three-person Selection Committee will continue with one person rotating off following each exhibit cycle, beginning in 2022
