Recap: Craig Bay Charity Golf Classic 2022
Perfect weather greeted 80 golfers who teed of on Sunday, August 28th for the 6th annual CBCGC at Qualicum’s Memorial Golf Course. After 9 holes of golf and lunch at Thalassa, the next stop was an evening get together arranged by Carol at our Craig Bay clubhouse.
Players and many non-golfers were treated to a variety of cakes, cookies, and refreshments. Our event partner, the CB Fall Food Drive, ran a 50/50 draw as part of the charity fundraiser. Golfers had a chance to see if they were one of the 30 winners who had their name pulled out of the Lucky Draw hat. A total value of $2,500 worth of donated prizes had been collected by the committee, ranging mainly of golf passes, gift certificates and merchandise all from local business supporters. These tickets are sold when players register, and the proceeds go directly to the Salvation Army.
As a footnote, the “Prize Draw” was the original idea of Karen Black, who was an original member of our committee. Sadly, we recently lost Karen and the community will miss her. In future years this portion of the tournament will be fittingly known as “The Karen Black Prize Draw”.
In conclusion, you the participants raised $2,150 to kick start the annual CB Fall Food Drive, in turn helping our local Arrowsmith Salvation Army Food Bank. Your continuing support over the past 6 years of this fun golfing event has contributed a total of $14,000 to our community in need. Congratulations to you all.
The committee is always open to new ideas and if you think something will work contact any member.
Mark August 27th on your 2023 calendar and we will do it all again.
