GENEROSITY:
“The Most Natural Outward Expression of an Inner Attitude of Compassion.”

Compassion and Generosity – something Craig Bay Residents have in spades!
We know how fortunate we are and when we see the effects of weather and/or war in other parts of the world, we get out our cheque books and send what we can. We do have weather woes here in Oceanside at times, but so far, we live in a peaceful place in world.
However, very close to us, there are families and singles (mostly women) who are really struggling with a basic need – FOOD! It’s POVERTY folks!
There is just not enough income for far too many. Choices are made between rent and/or food and in most cases the “food” gets shortchanged. Without an address, it’s difficult to get or keep a job.
The help from the Food Bank can make a difference in paying rent/mortgage/basic needs. The once-a-month hamper from our local Food Bank can offset the budget for groceries. So helpful!
We are on our way to another generous donation with $23,500 collected already!
We have 6 more “Drop Days” to help The Salvation Army keep the shelves at The Food Bank filled with groceries – food that offers a lifeline to so many.
Our formal presentation to The Salvation Army will be on
Sunday, November 17 at 9:00 am.
NEEDED ON THE SHELF:
As mentioned in last week’s update, there is room for storage at the Food Bank – filling that space will help so much next summer when donations from supermarkets are down. The cash donations help, but only if the products needed are in the stores.
- Cereal
- Pasta & Pasta Sauce, tomato sauce
- Canned protein: Spam, ham, fish
- Canned soups, chili, beans, stew
- Personal hygiene products
