The attendance of owners at the monthly Craig Bay Social Committee meetings has been reduced in recent times and we wondered if our name as a “Committee” makes it appear like a closed door. It does not operate in the same way as other Committees, which have limited number of volunteers i.e. Beach Club Subcommittee. Our social group was originally known was EATS, which meant Events and Activity Team. Somewhere along the way it became more officially named a Committee. It is suggested we contemplate a name change to reflect its community- wide appeal i.e. Craig Bay Social Community. We elect a President, Treasurer and Secretary, but beyond that planning comes from however many owners turn up to give input, suggest ideas, volunteer, and/or lead activities during the year. For 2020 we have developed a roster of interesting events and we need more volunteers to help bring them to life, otherwise the same few who have been working hard for some years may go on permanent extended vacations. New ideas are very welcome.
This is a call to residents to come to meetings held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 10 am in the Four Seasons lounge, with a particular call out to new owners.
The next meeting is at 10 am on February 10th, 2020
TGIF Update (Thank Goodness Its Friday!)
We would like to change the starting time of TGIF back to the original 5 pm, particularly in winter. It is quite alright if people cannot get there at that exact time. Everyone brings appies to share, their own beverage and settle in to enjoy relaxed sociable conversation in the lovely setting of the Four Seasons Lounge or on the patio in the summer. Some board games/cards will be made available to add a little spice and interest. Attendees can decide at the time what interests them most depending on numbers.
The new time will begin Friday January 24th, 2020
TGIF used to consistently be a vibrant activity in Craig Bay and many would like to see this return. Because we are a more settled community, it may be a bit daunting to new people to come up to the clubhouse to shoot the breeze with what may be perceived as ‘established groups’, though we don’t believe that really is so. It would be wonderful if long- time neighbours could invite new residents to join them and a warm welcome is extended to new faces. Many firm friends have started out this way.
