Craig Bay is known for its generous spirit!

As usual, the Craig Bay Beach Club supports two local gift-giving programs at Christmas – to help make the season special for those who are struggling in the Oceanside / Nanoose community:  The SOS Angel Tree Program (supports children and families) & the Nanoose Elf Program (supports seniors).

Please read the details for each program below.

  • The SOS Angel Tree gifts can be dropped off at the Beach Club office until December 12th.
  • The Nanoose Elf will be coming to Craig Bay on December 9th (10-11am) as an in-person designated collection time. Donations cam also be left with the Beach Club office prior to that date.

SOS Angel Tree Program 2022

Greetings from District 69 Society of Organized Services (SOS).

The Angel Tree program is a gift collecting initiative to request new donated toys and gifts to stock up our Toyshop. The program helps low-income parents, guardians, and grandparents to select a gift basket to put under the Christmas tree for their children or grandchildren.

The SOS provides the participating business with “Angels,” which look and hang like a Christmas tree ornament. The Angels suggest the age, gender, and a requested gift or toy to purchase. These suggestions represent items that we would like to have in our Toyshop.

Simply choose an Angel from the tree, purchase the gift, and attach the Angel to the new, unwrapped gift. The gifts can be delivered to the SOS Community Services Centre or delivered to the Beach Club office during open office hours – gifts collected will be picked up by the SOS no later than December 14, 2022.

During Christmas 2021, SOS registered 614 households, helping 869 adults, and providing 952 children with wonderful gifts and stockings to wake up to on Christmas morning. Your participation would make a significant impact on our community.

Nanoose Elf Giving Program 2022

Greetings everyone!

The 2022 Nanoose Bay Christmas Elf Program has begun. The Elf workshop is set up and the Elves are busy preparing for another wonderful Christmas of giving. Last year, with your help, we were able to provide for so many in our community an opportunity to celebrate a wonderful Christmas time with turkeys, treats, gifts and so many happy memories. Thank you for coming out and supporting the Elf Program and ensuring a joyful holiday season for so many of our neighbours.

Like last year, we will be set up at the front door of the Clubhouse on Friday, December 9th between 10:00am and 11:00am to accept any gifts you may wish to donate.

Below are some of the requests from our seniors….

Shoppers Drug Mart – to help a senior with personal and special necessities
Woodgrove Mall – to put towards much needed clothing, jackets and footwear
Prepaid Visa card – to enable seniors to shop other than the mall or when Parksville stores may be more convenient for travel
Marks – our senior gentlemen like to shop here for clothes
Petro Canada Gas Cards – to enable seniors to get to medical appointments
Quality Foods– to help stretch the grocery budget

TREATS:  Hot chocolate, Cookies, Dark chocolates, Milk chocolates, Mixed nuts

Often requested items would include: warm socks, tea, and regular coffee for drip coffee makers.

If you are unable to shop, a donation by cheque of any amount to the Elf Program is always appreciated. This allows the Elves to purchase any special needs items or specific requests from our seniors. A tax receipt can be issued for any cheque/gift of $20 or more. Please bring your gift with purchase receipt and we will fill out a tax form on December 9th.

Thank you so much for participating in the 2022 Elf Program. If you have any questions or concern regarding the program, please contact Karen Murphy at

Cheers ~
