Every year, as Thanksgiving approaches, as we stop to count our own blessings, the Craig Bay Fall Food Drive Committee asks you to remember those less fortunate. Going grocery shopping for a special family dinner? Then please pick up a few extra items to donate to our food drive. You know the drill. And, of course, we hope that you will continue to do that.

But this year is different for many of us. What if you’ve been avoiding visiting the food store like the plague (pun intended) these past few months? What if you’ve been sticking close to home, rarely venturing outside of Craig Bay? If this sounds like you, just think of all the money you’ve been saving on gas. How much does it cost to fill up the tank in your vehicle? $45?  $75?

Please consider writing a cheque in that amount to the Mount Arrowsmith Salvation Army and dropping it off at the Beach Club Cape Cod entrance between

10 am and 12pm on Tuesday or Thursday this month.

The Parksville Food Bank desperately needs our help to stock its shelves right now and the financial support to do that.

Whether or not you plan to celebrate Thanksgiving, you can still offer thanks for your good health and good karma by putting your parked car to good use. Instead of paying the oil company to fill your tank, why not fuel up the food bank with the money you’re saving by not driving? All donations over $10 will receive a tax receipt. Please make your cheque payable to The Mt Arrowsmith Salvation Army.
