“Your greatness is not what have, but what you give”

Author Unknown

We, who live in Craig Bay, know that what we have IS great, and we know that giving is great too!

In fact, we excel in giving! Read on:

Last Tuesday the “giving” resulted in 723 pounds of food going directly to the Food Bank, and over $6,000 in cash – it was our biggest day in the history of our drive – OVERWHELMING!  Marion, Karnet and Jane were kept busy with sorting and weighing for the whole 2 hours! Please imagine the reaction from the Food Bank staff and volunteers when Bev delivered those groceries!

Last Thursday, Major Norm Hamelin and Bonnie Brown stopped by our drop zone and we were delighted to give him the $24,000 that we have collected since the beginning of October (watch the video below to share that moment!)

Our annual Fall Food Drive is almost over – 3 giving days left (Nov 2, 4 and 9) till our grand giveaway on November 14th. We surpassed our goal of $15,000, then $25,000, and we are close to last year’s $40,000!! Beyond WOW! Thank you to all who have donated so generously!

We are helping those in need SO much – the goods on the shelf go out as quickly as they come in. More than 500 families come for a monthly food hamper to augment their food budget. As the saying goes –“it helps keep the wolf from the door”! The money we donate will help keep food on the shelf as Food Drives slow down.

If you wish to see the red on our poster thermometer rise, please come see us on Tuesday or Thursday of this week and Tuesday the following week.

Here’s what’s needed on the shelf:

Eggs and more eggs!  |  Cheese |  Powdered Milk  |  Baby Food  |  Oatmeal  |  Flour  |  Sugar   |  Coffee/Tea

With gratitude from your Food Drive Team,
Penny Rutherford, Jane Peverett, Maureen Maitland, Marion Woodward, Mariette Calvert, Carol Chilton, Jean Russell, Karnet Wiebe, Cindy Nelms, Bill Webb, Bev Wilson and Joyce Kristianson

From a Craig Bay Resident who volunteers at the Food Bank:

As a volunteer at the Food Bank I can tell you “first hand” the food and money donated by Craig Bay is truly appreciated by the families needing help.

They express their gratitude when they see what we are able to give them….The eggs, cheese, milk, luncheon meat for sandwiches, etc. are not always available to give them.

I am so proud, not only for the amount, but also for the quality of the food Craig Bay donates – the blocks of Armstrong cheese, Lindt chocolate bars, bags of great coffee, super luncheon meats….I could go on. These are special treats for these families who are very grateful to be regarded so well by their community when a lot of them feel demeaned to need our help.

It’s been a fabulously successful food drive….again Craig Bay!!  Congratulations!

Thank you so much for your unbelievable generosity!
