7th Running of the ‘Craig Bay Derby’
~ An Evening at the Races ~
March 26th

With the lifting of some of the Covid-19 restrictions, it’s once again time to gather socially for this (normally) biannual event; another fun-filled evening of pizza and horse race gaming at the Beach Club!  Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 26th to join in on all the fun!

This will be the 7th “running of the horses” at the Beach Club Conservatory, set-up as “Craig Bay Downs”!

Six racehorses will be at the gate ready to perform for you.  An “Owner’s Purse” will be available for the winning, as will “50-cent” quasi-pari-mutuel wagering be available for each race.
Several races will be run during the evening where betting can take place, culminating in a final “Owner’s Race” for the winning of the “Owner’s Prize Purse”.

But that’s where participants really get involved as the evening will start by auctioning-off the six mighty steeds that will be running the races, the auction proceeds making-up the “Owner’s Prize Purse”.

Event participants are encouraged to organize “Syndicates” of ownership that can buy a horse (and of course share in the potential winnings).  Syndicates can represent, for example, a particular block in Craig Bay, one or more of the many Clubs or organizations in Craig Bay, groups of friends, etc., or can even be a single individual!

The more participation, the greater the fun, so we encourage participants to limit their consortium memberships to no more than 10 to increase the number of groups participating! Newcomers to Craig Bay are especially encouraged to check out this fun social event that has been offered every couple of years or so in the past!  (Note: This event is open only to Craig Bay residents.)

The evening will start at 6:00 pm at the Beach Club.  Pizza and snacks will be provided so just bring along your own refreshments.

Come join us for another fun community social event!
